Mondrian Piet
(b. March 7, 1872 Amersfoort, Netherlands-
d.February 1, 1944 New York)
In Paris, where he went in 1911, he was influenced by Cubism.
He was a founder of the Stijl-movement (1917), which limited painting
to the vertical, the horizontal and the three primary colours.
In his work "Le Néoplaticisme", first published
in 1920, he demanded a new form of space, which had influence
mainly in modern architecture.
